Preflight

Will this upload work?

Before anything uploads, we check the file against YouTube's rules as the product knows them. What we can only check after you connect (your channel, today's quota) is labelled that way, not guessed.

  • FormatMOV, MP4, WEBM checked before upload
  • Size and lengthup to 2 GB, 0.5 s to 12 h checked before upload
  • Short or long-formvertical or square up to 3 min becomes a Short checked before upload
  • Channel and quotachecked after you connect

Quota Ledger

How YouTube's quota is spent.

Uploads have their own bucket of 100 a day per Google Cloud project. Reads (checking a post went live) draw on a separate 10,000-unit daily pool at 1 unit each. We count both ourselves and defer instead of failing.
