How workspaces and billing work

How workspaces and billing work

Two different things are easy to mix up: a workspace and your account. This page says what each one holds.

A workspace holds the work

A workspace is where one brand or client lives. Its posts, connected channels, media, queue and team are its own — nothing in one workspace shows up in another. What a person can do in a workspace depends on their role there.

Your account holds the plan

Your account is you: the sign-in you own. The plan, the trial and the subscription live on the account, not on any workspace. One subscription covers every workspace you own, and every one of them runs on the same plan and the same billing state — a plan change applies to all of them at once. You never pay per workspace.

The trial

The trial runs 30 days and needs no card. The clock does not start when you sign up: it starts on the day you connect your first channel, in any of your workspaces. One trial per email address: if an address has already used its trial, an account created with it starts without one.

On the trial you can create up to 3 workspaces. Paid plans do not meter workspaces.

How limits count

Some limits pool across the account; some belong to each workspace.

  • Channels count across every workspace on the account. Your plan's channel limit is one number for the whole account, split between workspaces however you like.
  • People count across the account too: a person counts once, however many of your workspaces they belong to.
  • Media storage counts across the account too: your plan's storage amount is one pool for the whole account, split between workspaces however you like.
  • Queue depth is per workspace: each workspace can hold the plan's number of queued or scheduled posts.

Joining a workspace

An owner or admin invites people by email, from Settings → Members. The invitation link works for 7 days; accepting it puts the workspace in your picker, with the role you were invited as:

  • Owner — Owns the workspace: everything below, plus billing and deletion.
  • Admin — Manages members, tokens and settings; can publish and approve.
  • Member — Drafts, schedules and publishes posts; can connect accounts. Cannot approve, manage members or reach billing.
  • Approver — Reviews and approves posts. Cannot publish or connect accounts.

A workspace with single sign-on can also add people automatically when they sign in, as members. Joining someone else's workspace does not touch your own account or plan: that workspace runs on its owner's account.
